Marie Curie Research Fellow (Clinical Footwear Biomechanics) HE11/30
£48,105 per annum plus mobility allowance

We are seeking a Marie Curie Fellow (Experienced Researcher 4 -10 years) to work in the DiaBSmart project. DiaBSmart is a FP7 Marie Curie-Industry Academic Pathways and Partnerships project (IAPP) focussing on Diabetic Footwear. The project consortium consists of 5 partners including 2 academic institutions, 2 industrials partners and specialist diabetic hospital.

This inter and multi disciplinary consortium has expertise in footwear biomechanics, clinical biomechanics and gait analysis, material science, footwear and footwear component manufacture along with a wide range of clinical disciplines.

The main task of the post holder will be to develop a Finite Element (FE) model of the diabetic foot with a view to investigate, understand and quantify the tissue mechanics. Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computer modelling technique that can predict stress and strain distributions in a loaded structure like foot. This research will be conducted as a part of ongoing projects within the Biomechanics Facility at the Faculty of Health, Staffordshire University.

You should have an internationally recognised PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. The ideal candidate would have a strong track record of projects involving industrial collaboration, together with in-depth knowledge of FE modelling and Clinical Biomechanics.

The post would be suitable for an appropriately qualified researcher undertaking sabbatical leave or job rotation with the intention of returning to their original employer at the end of the Marie Curie Fellowship.

This post offers a working contract with benefits adjusted to living conditions according to EU guidelines and international mobility.
