  • Postdoctoral Position in Computational Biomechanics for Fluid Structure Interaction

The Soft Materials Mechanics Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of computational biomechanics. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in a funded project to develop a computational model of the eye to investigate the injury mechanisms caused by the primary blast wave. The project involves developing numerical methods for fluid-structure interaction and constitutive modeling of the damage and failure mechanisms of collagenous tissues. An initial appointment will be for a 12-month period with future renewal contingent on performance. Salary will be based on the level of experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

    Qualifications:
The candidate is required to have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field. The successful candidate must be experienced in programming and the finite element method. Experience with constitutive modeling is also desired. All candidates should have excellent verbal and written
communication skills, a strong publication record, and the ability and motivation to work independently. Researchers are expected to collaborate with internal investigators, and participate in the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and presentations.

To apply, please submit a complete curriculum vitae, representative publications, and the names and addresses of two references.
