Applications are being accepted for a 4-year fully funded ($21,500 / year) PhD position in the Spine and Muscle Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Guelph. The successful applicant will focus his/her thesis on developing the understanding of spinal muscle function and remodeling in response to clinically relevant spine disorders. Work will be conducted primarily using animal models, with possible additional focus on human models and computational modeling.
Applicants should have an MSc degree in a field related to biomechanics and/or physiology. A previous background working with research animals is an asset. The position will begin in either September 2012 or January 2013.
The Spine and Muscle Biomechanics Laboratory is part of the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph, in Ontario Canada. Collaborative opportunities will be available with colleagues within the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences and School of Engineering, as well as at neighbouring universities within the Toronto, Hamilton and Waterloo regions.
