The Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition, College of Applied Health Sciences, at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level. The Department has strengths in biomedical and rehabilitation research that include the fields of musculoskeletal biomechanics and movement neuroscience. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background and demonstrable experience with the neural and mechanical principles underlying human movement, rehabilitation and related areas as evidenced by a strong publication and funding record. Applicants with a research program investigating clinical populations are particularly encouraged to apply.
A PhD or MD in a related field and at least two years of postdoctoral training or independent university research experience are required. Previous university-level teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is highly desirable, as is the ability to mentor students and postdoctoral fellows. A demonstrated ability or high potential to attract independent external funding is required. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous research program supported by extramural funding, contribute to the teaching mission of the department at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the department, college and university through service activities. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students with diverse backgrounds. An ability to integrate biomechanics and movement neuroscience is a distinct advantage. Competitive salary support and start-up funds will be provided.
