A two-year postdoctoral position is available in the Human Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Lab (HMBL) at The University of Kentucky. The candidate will work on a funded project related to the effects of aging on trunk mechanical and neuromuscular behaviors and risk of occupational low back pain. The expected start date is September 2012.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree (ABD considered) in Biomechanical or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution. A comprehensive knowledge of finite element methods and biomechanics is required, as is familiarity with hardware, software, and research in a gait laboratory.
The HMBL lab is located in the Center for Biomedical Engineering, in close proximity (5 minute walk) to the Colleges of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Agriculture, and the UK Hospital. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary research team with experts from the Colleges of Engineering, Nursing, Public health, and Medicine. The University of Kentucky offers excellent research and training opportunities and is located in Lexington, a city of 250,000 residents in the heart of the rolling hills and horse farms of the Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky. This area is consistently rated among the best places to relocate and raise a family. The cost of living is also relatively low compared with most major metropolitan regions in the U.S.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and the names and addresses of at least two references to Babak Bazrgari (babak.bazrgari@uky.edu).
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
