  • Post-Doctoral Research Associate – Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago

    Position: Research Associate
Organization: The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago
    Location: Chicago, IL
    Deadline: ASAP

A post-doctoral research associate position is now available in the Applied Research in Muscuoloskeletal Simulation (ARMS) Lab, a part of the Sensory Motor Performance Program at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. The RIC offers a multi-site system of clinical care for musculoskeletal and neurological illnesses, and is closely affiliated with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. We are based in Chicago, and offer clinical services throughout northern Illinois. The ARMS Lab, directed by Dr. Wendy Murray, is also affiliated with the Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital in Hines, IL.

The successful candidate will conduct experimental studies that quantify muscle activity and joint kinematics during complex motions of the hand. This position is fully-funded via a grant from the National Institutes of Health, and the experimental studies represent one component of a larger project whose long-term objective is to develop a controller for a multiple degree-of-freedom prosthetic hand. As such, the post-doctoral researcher will work as a part of a multi-institutional team, including Dr. Murray, Dr. Todd Murphey from Northwestern University, Dr. Richard Weir from University of Colorado Denver, Dr. Robert Kirsch from Case Western Reserve University, and Dr. Ton van den Bogert of Orchard Kinetics, LLC.

The successful candidate must have expertise in a field related to clinical musculoskeletal biomechanics, such as engineering, kinesiology, or physical therapy. Prior experience with EMG data collection as well as motion analysis of the upper limb and/or hand is required.

Applications should be submitted via the RIC HR page. A direct link to this open position (tracking code 18867) is provided below.
