This is an exciting opportunity to join Professor Richard Baker to conduct research into the biomechanics of walking with a trans-femoral prosthesis. The work will focus on the biomechanical modelling of the energy cost of amputee gait with validation work against Oxygen cost measurements. You will take responsibility for the practical implementation of the project as specified in the successful proposal for funding from the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine. You will have a significant role in biomechanical testing of participants and in developing biomechanical models for analysing results. The role will be an excellent introduction to postdoctoral research with strong encouragement to publish and to explore avenues for further funding in the area.
You will have a PhD with a strong biomechanics content, experience of biomechanical testing with human participants (preferably gait analysis) and biomechanical modelling. You will be self-motivated, a good communicator and a strong team worker. The post is based at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court, Epsom, Surrey, UK and will require appropriate security clearances to be obtained before appointment.
Closing date: Friday 12th October (UK time).
