The University of Florida invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean, College of Health and Human Performance. The College provides nationally and internationally recognized education and research programs that focus on helping people protect, maintain and improve their health, fitness and quality of life. Based upon the work of its faculty and the high caliber of its students, the department has consistently been ranked among the top kinesiology departments in the country.
• Department of Health Education & Behavior – This department aims to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public understanding of health to promote healthier living. The department seeks to prepare Health Education professionals capable of assessing individual and community health education needs; developing, planning and implementing effective health education programs; evaluating health education program effectiveness; coordinating the provision of health education services; acting as a resource person in health education; and communicating health/health education needs, concerns and resources.
• Department of Tourism, Recreation & Sports Management – This department focuses on understanding the psychosocial factors that lead individuals, families and industry to value and benefit from tourism, recreation, parks and sport, thereby contributing to quality of life. Faculty provide knowledge through research and teaching that helps communities and organizations develop and improve sustainable tourism, recreation, parks and sport opportunities which all benefit a diverse population.
In addition to these three departments, the College supports the following centers:
• Center for Exercise Science
• Eric Friedheim Tourism Institute
• Tourism Crisis Management Institute
• Center for Digital Health and Wellness
The College is also responsible for:
• Living Well Program – This is a health and fitness program for University employees.
