Assistant Professor, tenure track. We are seeking applicants with research and teaching expertise in Physical Activity and Health.
Qualifications: We seek applicants whose specialization is aligned with the interaction of physical activity and health, the effect of physical activity on human health, use of physical activity in the prevention of hypokinetic diseases and/or factors that affect participation in physical activity. Specialties may include exercise psychology, epidemiology, exercise neuroscience, biomechanics and basic and applied exercise physiology. These specialties may apply at any point across the lifespan (e.g. pediatric, adults, and elderly).
Required: Ph.D. in Kinesiology or closely related field. Evidence of potential in grant scholarship and external funding; strong publication record, and evidence of innovative research. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and work place collegiality and a history of success. Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment begins, and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired: University teaching experience, particularly in exercise prescription; active participation in pertinent professional organizations; relevant practical/clinical experience and certifications.
Responsibilities: Establish a successful research program leading to publications in premier refereed journals, presentations in national and international venues, and extramural funding; teach graduate and undergraduate classes in exercise science, particularly the physical activity and health major; participate in curriculum development; recruit, advise, and train students in the M.Ed., M.S., and Ph.D. degree plans, including supervision of graduate research; perform Department, College, University, community, and professional service.
