Graduate assistantships in bone mechanobiology available at University of Akron

The Bone Biomechanics and Mechanobiology Laboratory at The University of Akron has opportunities for PhD students to participate in research projects related to bone mechanobiology. Our laboratory is developing in vitro models to study the effects of mechanical overload on bone cell activity. Our work is currently funded by an NSF Career and an NIH R15 award. These projects combine biomechanical engineering (computer modeling, design and development of loading devices) and bone cell biology to model and study multicellular interactions that occur when bone cells are damaged by mechanical overload and the subsequent cellular activities that are initiated as a result of the damage.

Positions are available immediately. Assistantships cover both tuition and stipend.
