    The Department of Kinesiology <http://www.hhdev.psu.edu/kines> at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a full-time faculty member in the area of exercise physiology for a tenure-track position, beginning Fall 2013 at the assistant professor rank. Priorities for integrative research areas include, but are not limited to, the role of exercise and or physical activity on cardiometabolic risk, musculoskeletal health, childhood obesity, aging, and women’s health.

    Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate area within or related to Kinesiology and demonstrate an established record of scholarship, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and service. The successful candidate will be expected to secure extramural research funding and assume teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Post-doctoral experience and an established research program are preferred. Preference will be given to a candidate whose research builds on existing strengths in the department.

    The Department of Kinesiology offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees and is part of the College of Health and Human Development. Our graduate program is currently ranked #1 by both the National Research Council and the National Academy of Kinesiology. The educational environment is enriched by the considerable breadth and diversity of faculty expertise and educational opportunities for students. Significant resources in areas pertinent to the study of integrative and/or exercise physiology exist, including research facilities and collaborations with multi-disciplinary Penn State organizations such as the Center for Healthy Aging, the Center for Childhood Obesity Research, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Hershey Medical Center, and the Huck Institutes for the Life Sciences.

    The Pennsylvania State University is the land grant institution of Pennsylvania. University Park is the largest of Penn State’s 24 campuses, with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 42,000 students and offering more than 150 programs of graduate study. University Park is located in Central Pennsylvania, adjacent to the municipality of State College, which enjoys high rankings for cultural opportunities, local schools, and quality of life.
