We have an exciting PhD studentship in muscle physiology using optogenetics:

The PhD will take integrative approach to understanding the role of muscle recruitment in locomotion. It will take advantage of the fact that optogenetic activation recruits motor units in the "natural" order, as opposed to electrical stimulation, which is the reverse.
The PhD will run alongside a recently awarded grant that funds two postdocs; a control engineer and a mouse geneticist/physiologist. More information on this grant is here:

The studentship is open to UK/EU nationals only. The deadline for applications is Monday Dec. 3rd, 2012.
