Discipline description
The discipline of sports biomechanics is concerned with the description and analysis of human movement and movement control. It requires an integrated knowledge of neuromuscular function and biomechanics. This area of knowledge also includes motor development and learning, and the development of different training models with applications to various aspects of sport (e.g. elite sport, physical activity and rehabilitation). The goal is to increase knowledge of human movement control and its adaptation to training in order to optimise technique and performance in different sports, and prevent injuries.
Job description
The study of biomechanics is a central area of knowledge at GIH in terms of research, education and collaboration.
GIH has well-equipped laboratories for biomechanics, exercise physiology and applied sports science. The successful candidate will lead and develop the biomechanics laboratory and is expected to have a broad methodological knowledge. The position will primarily include research, and education of post-graduate students. Other tasks will include education at undergraduate level and interaction with the wider community. The successful candidate is also expected to carry out activities that are a normal part of a professorship, such as administration, internal and external honorary assignments and representation of the discipline nationally and internationally.
Duration/Working hours
The appointment is a permanent full-time position. The date of commencement is to be agreed upon.
Salary
The salary level is subject to negotiation.
