Dr. Timothy Hewett of The Ohio State University, Sports Health and Performance Institute, is seeking highly motivated and qualified applicants for a mentored PhD graduate assistantship in sports medicine and injury biomechanics to begin as early as February 2013. Application reviews will begin in January and will continue until positions are filled.
Ideal applicants will demonstrate academic excellence in a field related to biomechanical systems analyses, including but not limited to: physical therapy, athletic training, exercise physiology, exercise science, biomedical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Applicants should have a specific interest in biomechanical-epidemiological studies evaluating injury risk in active individuals. Clinician scientists (MD, PT, ATC) preferred. Interested clinicians must be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. Experience with 3-dimensional motion analysis techniques is preferred.
The Sports Medicine Research Laboratories, The Biodynamics Laboratory and the Movement Analysis and Performance program at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center feature a multi-disciplinary faculty with expertise in biomechanics, biomedical and mechanical engineering, medicine, physiology, cell and tissue biology, physical therapy, athletic training, and other sports and exercise sciences. The current lab space is 5000+ sq. ft. with approximately 800 sq. ft. of testing space, which includes multiple 3D motion capture systems, multi-axial force plates, multiple dynamometers and wireless EMG systems. The successful candidate will be part of an expanding program which will includes an additional 4500+ sq. ft. of testing space, with additional state of the art laboratories and research systems.
