Website: coen.boisestate.edu/ntm/
Applicant Review: Begins March 20th, 2013, and continues until the position is filled.
Description
A graduate research assistant position is available starting Fall 2013 within The Northwest Tissue Mechanics (NTM) Laboratory at Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. The primary goal of the NTM laboratory is to improve the clinical care of musculoskeletal disease by investigating the effect of mechanical loading on tissue physiology, pathology and restoration. The hired graduate research assistant is expected to pursue a Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), and will conduct research in the pathomechanics of meniscus injury. This research will include experimental and computational biomechanics, and has potential to improve the treatment and prevention of joint disorders (for more information see coen.boisestate.edu/ntm/).
Candidates need to have a B.S. in material science, mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering (or a closely related field). Preferred qualifications include finite element modeling, computer programming (e.g. C++, labview, matlab), electronics and mechanical design. The position provides a competitive annual salary and a full tuition waiver. The MSE program at Boise State University is an interdisciplinary program that is recognized as one the fastest growing MSE programs in the United States.
All interested applicants must satisfy the MSE department admission requirements, and must submit a graduate application following the admission procedures specified by the MSE department (see coen.biosestate.edu/mse/). All applicants will be considered for this funded Ph.D. position, and other funded Ph.D. positions in the MSE department. Interested individuals are invited to contact Dr. Trevor Lujan with questions, and should notify Dr. Trevor Lujan once an application is submitted (trevorlujan@boisestate.edu)
