    Job Summary:
    The Rehabilitation Medicine Department (RMD) within the Clinical Center (CC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a biomedical or mechanical engineer in our state-of-the-science 3D motion laboratory within the Functional & Applied Biomechanics Section. The principal duty of this position is to participate in and oversee the collection of 3-D motion data in the laboratory, and to ensure that the data are processed in a timely manner and results are summarized and sent to the appropriate recipients. Previous experience in 3D motion capture is desirable but not required. The engineer should be knowledgeable or have the skills and interests to rapidly become knowledgeable in all of the technical aspects of the laboratory, including familiarity with all hardware and software that is utilized. The engineer must have the ability to design or develop new data collection and processing procedures. This individual will have the opportunity to contribute in a significant way to our clinical research agenda. Applicants should have good intrapersonal skills and excellent oral communication skills so as to relate to and work well with patients who come to the NIH, Information Technology staff, hardware, software and equipment companies, as well as engineers, clinicians and research staff in the Section and in the Department. Commitment to excellence in performance of all aspects of the position is expected in this position. THIS IS NOT A RESEARCH SCIENTIST POSITION NOR WILL IT LEAD TO THAT TYPE OF POSITION.

    A qualified individual should have a bachelor or master’s level degree in bioengineering or mechanical engineering. This person should have advanced computing skills, including a thorough knowledge of Excel and at least a basic level knowledge of Matlab. He/she will be supervised by the director (DLD).
