    Postdoctoral Researcher Position Available

    Movement and Neurosciences Center, Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital

    The Movement and Neurosciences Sciences Center seeks postdoctoral candidates to work in a state-of-the-art research laboratory dedicated to improving the performance, quality of life and safety of individuals recovering from brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries and other neurologic and orthopedic conditions. The postdoctoral researcher will join a highly interactive multidisciplinary team that is developing and assessing new technology and treatment approaches to maximize the independence, quality of life and outcomes of individuals with physical disabilities. The multiple research studies underway in the Institute are funded through federal agencies, as well as national and local foundations. Responsibilities will include collaborative data analysis, manuscript and grant writing, scientific presentations, and mentoring research interns. Technology in the laboratory includes a 12-camera infrared motion analysis system, four AMTI force plates, a 16-channel and 10 channel fine wire and surface EMG system, Pedar plantar pressure mapping hardware and software, a GAITRite instrumented walkway, a metabolic cart and an isokinetic dynamometer.

    Setting: The Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering is located within Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Madonna is one of the largest free standing independent rehabilitation hospitals in the U.S. It provides a full continuum of services including inpatient rehabilitation, a long-term acute care hospital, multiple outpatient clinics, and a 56,000 square foot health and wellness facility. Madonna served 5500 patients from 29 states last year. Money Magazine consistently ranks Nebraska as one of the top 10 states in the nation. Lincoln has earned a reputation as one of the Midwest’s most beloved cities, with a friendly college-town atmosphere that includes numerous entertainment opportunities frequently found only in larger metropolitan areas. Clean, tree-lined streets, as well as parks, golf courses and trails further enhance quality of living. The Institute collaborates with academic and industry partners nationally to implement a dynamic translational research agenda.
    Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in rehabilitation sciences, engineering, neurosciences, biomechanics or a related field, exceptional communication and leadership skills, and a documented history of scholarly productivity commensurate with the position.

    I am Jaydip Desai, looking for a postdoctoral position in the field of rehabilitation engineering where I can use my neuro-anatomy, biomedical instrumentation, robotics & control experience to design & develop new technology and treatment approaches to improve quality of life for physically disable person.

    I have completed my doctoral degree in biomedical engineering with specialized study in robotics & control from mechanical engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. I have seen job opening on biomch-l.isbweb.org, and interested to get more information about it.
