  • Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Sports Biomechanics (Uni of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand)

    The School of Physical Education at University of Otago, seeks to hire a tenure track (confirmation path) faculty member with expertise in Sports Biomechanics. Primary teaching responsibilities are expected to be Introductory Biomechanics and Sport Performance Analysis, but may also include papers in Advanced Biomechanics topics or Data Analysis techniques.

    Successful applicants will also be expected to lead research and engage in other scholarly activities, participate in curriculum review and development, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research in dissertations and theses and provide service within and outside the university.

    Qualifications:
    • Earned doctorate in a Biomechanics-related field

    • Proven, focused research activity in biomechanics, including a sound publishing record in highly ranked academic journals

    • Successful teaching performance in relevant coursework

    • Strong potential to attract external funding.


    Attributes:
    • Knowledge of Matlab programming, Artificial Neural Networks, online Motion Analysis and Performance Analysis are highly desirable

    • Ability to work successfully within a culturally diverse university and community.

    The School of Physical Education houses a temperature-controlled swimming flume (3x10m swim channel), high standard motion analysis laboratory equipped with 10 Vicon MX T20 cameras, 2 AMTI force plates, an 8-channel Polhemus liberty system, an 8-channel Noraxon telemetry EMG system and two high-speed Basler cameras. Further, the School has a dedicated Biomechanics analysis computer suite which includes software licences for both qualitative and quantitative data processing and analysis such as Focus X2, Silicon Coach Pro, Matlab R2011a, Simi Motion 7.2, Visual 3D v4, and Vicon Nexus.
