This post offers a unique opportunity to be part of large-scale clinical study and is funded by a research grant from Diabetes UK. The successful candidate will play an integral role as part of a research study investigating the use of novel biofeedback technology in reducing plantar pressures in diabetic patients. The development of foot ulcers in patients with diabetes is largely attributed to high plantar pressures and this project aims to intervene on foot pressures to reduce the incidence of foot ulcers sustained in these patients.
Applicants should have a good first degree in the allied health professions, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, exercise/sport science, or in another relevant discipline. Applicants should also have a Masters degree, or other postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area, or equivalent significant clinical/professional experience. A Ph.D. is highly desirable, although not absolutely essential.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate research experience, and/or relevant clinical experience. Experience of working within a diabetes-related area would be a distinct advantage, although is not essential. The candidate should have good organisation skills, be able to work with large data sets and be comfortable working as part of a research team where they are responsible for coordinating various aspects of the research project.
The candidate needs to be willing to travel to other research sites/hospitals within the Manchester area.
