The School of Computing and Engineering in partnership with the UMKC Center of Excellence in the Study of Dental and Musculoskeletal Tissues (CEMT) (http://cemt.umkc.edu) is seeking a highly motivated computation post-doctoral scholar in bone biomechanics to join our dynamic research team to work on a multi-year project. The successful candidate will be involved in loading experiments, digital image correlation to study strains and developing advanced finite element (FE) models of mouse bone models. Responsibilities include the development of experimental techniques and collection of data required for validating numerical models and writing articles for publication in peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
-PhD in mechanical or biomedical engineering (or related discipline) with expertise in biomechanics
-Experience with biomechanical testing techniques (materials testing, digital image correlation)
-Demonstrated ability in FE model use and development, particularly with the LS-Dyna solver
-Experience in developing FE models from CTscan image
-Proficiency in scientific programming languages – Matlab and other languages
-A background in bone biology would be
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Ability to work well as a member of a team
