The Tech Team at Toronto Rehab Institute develops tools to help people living with disabilities. In particular, we focus on the types of disability people develop as they grow older.
We're looking for PhD students/postdoctoral fellows in three project areas:
Winter project: Design and testing of better winter footwear - we want people to stay active in the winter while minimizing the risk of falls.
Scooter project: Maximizing scooter performance in winter conditions while maintaining indoor maneuverability.
HomeCare project: Develop tools to people stay in their own homes longer as they grow older. This project includes helping people with their mobility in the home as well as supporting the caregiver whether this is a paid homecare worker or a family member. One of our focuses is finding better methods to lift and move people who can't support their own weight.
