The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (nine month Academic year appointment). We seek an Athletic Trainer (ATC) with the potential to develop an innovative and extramurally funded research program that will complement the Department’s ongoing research in the neurophysiology of movement disorders. Teaching workload is conducive to support the research aspects of this position. Campus-wide and community collaborations are encouraged.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducting nationally visible, funded research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and related areas, supervising/advising master’s and Ph.D. students, and university service.
QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in a related field (post-doctoral experience a plus), BOC certification and eligibility for Delaware licensure as an Athletic Trainer is required. Evidence of ability to establish a funded and independent research program required. Record of successful teaching experience preferred.
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The College of Health Sciences is a thriving college of over 2000 students and approximately 100 faculty with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (http://www.udel.edu/kaap) is an academic unit of 16 faculty, approximately 800 undergraduate students, and 40 graduate students. It is housed within the College of Health Sciences, which also includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy and the School of Nursing. The college is poised to establish an exciting new comprehensive clinical research complex on a recently acquired 272-acre tract of University property (http://www.udel.edu/star) that is slated for opening in 2014 as a research and technology campus by the University and our Delaware Health Science Alliance partners (http://www.delawarehsa.org/).
