The UTHealth Neurorehabilitation Research Laboratory at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join the laboratory and contribute to ongoing projects. The research laboratory is part of Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Texas – Medical School at Houston. The lab is housed in the outpatient clinic at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital that allows easy and convenient access to patient populations, including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation and pain.
A successful candidate should have a recent PhD degree in an area related to neuro-rehabilitation, such as rehabilitation engineering, rehabilitation science, movement neuroscience, kinesiology, etc. Proficiency in LabView and MatLab and experience with experimental studies of movement neuroscience are required. Neurophysiological training is desired. Experience with clinical studies, good English and communication skills are desired.
The Post-doctoral Fellow will be expected to contribute to some of the following ongoing research projects in the two main areas: 1) Neurorehabilitaton after stroke, such as pathophysiology and management of spasticity, impaired motor control. 2) Clinical application of breathing-controlled electrical stimulation in stroke rehabilitation. Development of new projects for possible grant proposal submission and collaboration with other faculty members are strongly encouraged.
The position is available immediately. The initial appointment is for one year with a possibility of extension and promotion. Salary depends on the experience. Positions will remain open until filled.
