Job Summary
The chair will lead the development of strong teaching, student advising, research, and service programs within the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Health Sciences. Working in conjunction with the department faculty and university administrators, the chair will have responsibility in matters of selection, retention, tenure, promotion, and work assignments of faculty and department personnel, and in the preparation and administration of departmental budgets. The chair will teach a limited number of courses within their area of expertise and engage in scholarship, service activities, and be involved in a new facility design.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Biomechanics, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or a cognate area.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding in exercise science and have tenure and hold the rank of associate or full professor. In addition, the candidate will provide evidence of experience with some or all of the following:
- Leading an academic department or program
- Undergraduate and graduate classroom teaching
- Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
- Mentoring new faculty members
- Involving undergraduate and graduate students in research
- Success in publishing research and securing external funding
- Success in service related outreach to the community.
