Position: Full-Time Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory Manager
Overview:
A lab manager position is available at the Functional Orthopedic Research Center of Excellence (FORCE) Laboratory in Bend, Oregon (http://www.osucascades.edu/force-lab). The FORCE lab is a partnership between Oregon State University – Cascades, Therapeutic Associates-Bend Physical Therapy, The Center Orthopedic & Neurosurgical Care & Research, and The Center Foundation. The FORCE lab provides cutting-edge research and intervention strategies for injuries –specializing in lower extremity injuries – creating a perfect match with Central Oregon’s active population including elite and recreational athletes of all ages. We seek to optimize musculoskeletal function and performance, prevent injury, and promote general well-being through the study of human movement. The FORCE lab is located in the 10,000 square foot Therapeutic Associates—Bend Physical Therapy clinic which is housed in The Center Orthopedic & Neurosurgical Care & Research next to St. Charles Medical Center.
Position Duties:
The FORCE lab manager is responsible for oversight of all aspects of data collection and data processing for research and industry projects, and for providing clinical services such as injury prevention screening and return-to-sport testing. The lab manager collaborates with a team of in-house clinicians including physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers. In addition, the FORCE lab manager will maintain all laboratory equipment (hardware and software). Supervision of research assistants and OSU-Cascades interns is an additional responsibility. Ideally, the lab manager would participate in the preparation and writing of abstracts, manuscripts, and grant proposals related to research conducted in the FORCE lab. Adjunct teaching opportunities are available within the Exercise & Sport Science program at OSU-Cascades, based on qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications:• Master's Degree in field of Kinesiology/Exercise Science, Biomedical Engineering, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy or closely related fields.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Strong computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:• Experience collecting and processing data in a motion analysis laboratory using a system such as Vicon, Qualysis, or Motion Analysis.
• Experience with Matlab and Labview programming.
• Clinical experience with musculoskeletal research.
• Teaching experience related to the Exercise & Sports Science program at OSU-Cascades
Compensation:
This is a full-time position which includes a comprehensive benefits package. Salary range is 34K-50K depending on teaching qualifications and course load.
