Position Description: The Division of Physical Therapy, housed within the Department and College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), invites applicants to apply for a 12-month tenure-track research emphasis faculty member (Assistant or Associate Professor). The candidate will join a productive team of senior and junior investigators within the department and college, and will be expected to establish an independently funded research program within their area of expertise. Candidates must have completed doctoral training (PhD, MD, EdD, ScD, or equivalent) and post-doctoral research experience is preferred. Current research funding and eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in South Carolina are preferred, but not required. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Division of Physical Therapy. Additional teaching opportunities are available within the Doctoral Program in Health and Rehabilitation Science. Applications from underrepresented minorities are particularly encouraged.
Substantial resources are available to support a wide range of applicant research areas. Areas of potential interest include orthopedics, rehabilitation psychology, health services, neuroscience and neurorehabilitation. These areas of expertise are not restricted and applicants with research expertise in other areas are also encouraged to apply. The college has current research strength in neurorehabilitation, specifically studies focused on theory-based measurement and treatment of persons with impairments due to stroke, spinal cord injury or other neurological conditions. State of the art laboratory facilities (http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/...ries/index.htm) are currently available to conduct experimental studies in these clinical cohorts. Faculty collaborate with researchers in other colleges at MUSC.
