Applications are invited for an interdisciplinary postdoctoral research position in the Biomechanics of Post-traumatic Osteoarthritis of the Hip and Knee Joints. The position involves the development and application of experimental and computational methods for simulating joint pathomechanics pre-and post-injury and osteoarthritis. The successful applicant will contribute to our understanding of the disease processes, and will participate in the evaluation of new diagnostic techniques, therapies, devices and/or interventions. The primary focus of this research position will be the biomechanics of the knee and hip joints, both in the context of Sports Medicine applications and the treatment of osteoarthritis with prosthetic devices. The research will be conducted in collaboration with a large established international team under the direction of Prof. Philip Noble (http://www.iore.net) within the Institute of Orthopedic Research & Education in the Texas Medical Center in Houston.
This position is suitable for highly motivated candidates with a strong research background in experimental, theoretical and computational biomechanics or related fields. Candidates with a demonstrated interest in joint function and surgical interventions are especially encouraged to apply.
Experience in experimental biomechanics, scientific programming and/or computational modeling is highly desirable. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the research, applications from all areas of computational science/engineering will be considered. However, applicants with interdisciplinary backgrounds will be preferred. The applicants for the postdoctoral position must have earned or be final year candidates for a PhD degree.
Interested applicants should send application materials by email (Denise Leon: dleon@iore.net). The application materials should include:
1. Current CV with names and contact information of at least three references
2. Brief statement of career goal, research background and interests
3. Availability
