POSITION: Assistant Professor (Biomechanics). This is a nine-month tenure-track position in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies beginning August 1, 2014.
Biomechanics is housed in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies, in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. A doctoral program is offered in Kinesiology and Sport Studies, and master’s and undergraduate programs are offered in Kinesiology. The department also offers master’s and undergraduate programs in Recreation & Sport Management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned doctorate in biomechanics or related discipline
- Record of research in biomechanics
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-doctoral research experience
- University teaching experience
- Evidence of extramural support for research
- Demonstrated commitment to professional organizations
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish independent, externally funded research program, and publish in refereed journals
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics, applied anatomy, and other related areas (e.g., biomechanics of musculoskeletal injury)
- Advise students and direct graduate students’ projects, theses, and dissertations
- Provide professional, university, and community service
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
