OPEN POSITION: The Shriners Hospitals for Children, Spokane, WA is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist to work in a state of the art Motion Analysis Laboratory. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a pediatric specialty hospital offering high-quality orthopedic medical care to children and adolescents.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This core member of the Motion Analysis Lab team will provide clinical support by performing physical examinations, data collection, integration & interpretation of kinematic, kinetic, electomyographic and clinical data into a comprehensive report for treatment decision making. The Motion Analysis Laboratory currently averages four motion analyses per week. Duties will also include participation in gait and biomechanics research and providing education to the community and medical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements are a degree in Physical Therapy with a current or potential Washington State license. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pediatric instrumented gait analysis as well as familiarity with Vicon motion capture systems or an M.S. in related field. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in biomechanics of human movement, an aptitude for research, and a high comfort level with technology. Candidates should be detail oriented with strong computer skills.
FACILITIES: The existing Motion Analysis Laboratory was opened in 1996 and was recently remodeled in 2012. Equipment includes an 12-camera Vicon MX system, 4 AMTI force plates, Motion Lab Systems surface & fine wire electromyography instrumentation, RSSCAN foot pressure measuring system, and a Cosmed K4b2 portable oxygen consumption testing unit.
The city of Spokane is located in eastern Washington near many lakes and mountains with an abundance of outdoor activities.
