Postdoctoral researcher in neuromechanics of locomotion at Tufts University
A postdoctoral fellowship is available starting in the fall of 2014 in the Tytell laboratory at Tufts University, studying the neural control and stability of locomotion in the lamprey. The position is funded through a three-year grant from the Army Research Office. The project aims to understand how the nonlinear dynamics of the central pattern generator circuit, muscle, and body of the lamprey contribute to the overall stability of swimming. The successful candidate will lead this project, working with a graduate student and one or two undergraduates. Expertise in neurophysiology or muscle physiology is critical, and experience in the analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems would be desirable. Proficiency with LabView or Matlab is also important.
