    Orthopedic Research

    Full-time Regular, 40 hours/week

    This position is focused on data analysis and is currently available in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Research Lab, at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

    We are searching for an outstanding individual to join our group with a focus on Data Analysis, Finite Element Modeling, Computer Aided Design, and other initiatives focused on injury prediction and prevention.

    In the course of performing the duties of this position, we anticipate that the individual will: 1) apply a strong background in biomechanics to injury analysis projects, 2) Have the opportunity to participate in a number of ongoing interdisciplinary research projects related to injury biomechanics, 3) develop excellent written and oral presentation skills, 4) develop a valuable peer network through collaboration with university partners, and 5) encourage the individual's own professional growth through attending pertinent training courses as necessary.

    The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory at Wake Forest University is a group conducting diverse research on a variety of orthopaedic topics. Our faculty is committed to pursuing clinically important research designed to improve patient care. In addition, because research is an integral component of our mission, our department is committed to developing innovative translational research while training the next generation of academic orthopaedic clinician surgeons. For example, several members of our faculty are developing nanotechnology and tissue engineering solutions to manage orthopaedic problems.

    The ideal candidate should have the following attributes.
    Required:
    ~ BS in Engineering and two years of experience; MS will be considered. A degree in a closely related field with appropriate data analysis experience will also be considered.
    ~ Experience with Matlab coding
    ~ Strong engineering fundamentals
    ~ Works well within a team setting
    ~ Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
    ~ US citizen

    Desired:
    ~ Experience with biomechanical testing and data analysis
    ~ 3+ years of experience in injury biomechanics research
    ~ Proficient in LS-Dyna
    ~ Proficient in CAD modeling software (SolidWorks, Geomagic Studio, Rhinoceros)
    ~ Familiarity with high performance computing and Linux OS
