The Speech Production Laboratory in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA School of Medicine is looking to fill a post-doctoral research position in soft tissue biomechanics. The goal of this NIH-supported project is to better understand the biomechanical mechanisms of voice production and control, with applications to clinical management of voice disorders. The responsibility includes experimental characterization of vocal fold material properties and development of finite-element models of vocal fold vibration. Experience in voice production research is preferred. The position is initially for one year but can be renewed for multiple years depending on performance.
