TheHospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation Department is seeking a highlymotivated, team-oriented physical therapist to join the dynamic staff of theJames M. Benson Sports Rehabilitation and Tisch Sports Performance Center.
Locatedin the prestigious Upper East Side of Manhattan, this multi-disciplinary centeris a premier location for individuals to receive care for musculoskeletal,orthopedic and sports injuries. Workingwith over 30 attending surgeons and primary care sports medicine physicians ofthe #1 ranked Orthopedic Institution in the U.S.A., the center staffincorporates physical therapy, performance, exercise physiology, nutrition andmassage services.
***ClinicalSupervisor of Sports Rehabilitation Research***
This is a unique leadership position that trulyinvolves a split between clinical care and researcher roles. The role requires thecandidate to maintain partial patient caseload of sports rehabilitationpatients while also fostering clinical research projects for the staff of the HSSSports Rehabilitation and Sports Performance Center. The supervisory role also includesopportunities for the candidate to lead their own research projects in areas ofinterest. The ideal candidate will havea minimum of 7-10 years outpatient experience with an emphasis on sports andorthopedic diagnoses. Along withclinical expertise, this position requires strong communication, mentoring andleadership skills. Participation inprofessional presentations and publication submissions are expected.
Applicantsfor the position must be able to demonstrate the ability to obtain a New Yorkstate physical therapy license and a willingness to participate in educationalventures for staff, community and professional audiences. Documented published research in peer reviewedmanuals is a requirement for this position. A PhD level of education is highly preferred with APTA certifications(e.g. OCS, SCS), and certified athletic trainer (ATC/LAT) backgrounds alsopreferred.
HSS Sports Rehabilitation physical therapistsare on-site providers for services to the MLB New York Mets, US Women's National Soccer Teams, NY Athletic Club and IMG Academy inBradenton, Florida.
HSS physicians are official teamdoctors for the New York Giants, New York Mets, New York Knicks, New YorkLiberty and New York Red Bulls. In 2013, HSS was designated as the firstNational Medical Center of the United States Olympic Committee’s NationalMedical Network. In 2014, HSS was designated a FIFA World Centre ofMedical Excellence.
