    Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, a teaching and research intensive department at the University of Guelph, invites applications for a tenure–track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of High Performance Athletics.

    The successful candidate will have a PhD in exercise physiology or biomechanics, postdoctoral research or Faculty experience, and the ability to maintain a productive research program in the applied area of high performance athletics. Specific expertise in the exercise physiology/nutrition area and/or the biomechanics/neural area working with training and performance aspects of elite athletes (cross country, track and field, triathlon) is required. The successful candidate would lead research in this area, attract research funding, maintain a productive applied research program in high performance athletics and also attract graduate students interested in studying all aspects of performance related to elite athletes. The duties of the Faculty member would also include applied work with the Speed River Track & Field Club in Guelph, focusing primarily on athletes of national to international, including Olympic, calibre. The new Faculty member would teach two courses in the applied aspects of human performance. One of these courses would be taught at the senior level in the BASc degree program in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber, while a second undergraduate course would service the Honours BSc students in the Human Kinetics program at the University of Guelph. There would also be a contribution to graduate teaching.

    The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences offers undergraduate Honours B.Sc. programs in Human Kinetics, Biomedical Sciences, and Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences that have a total enrolment of ~1600 students at the University of Guelph and an undergraduate BASc program in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber (~400 students). The Department also has a vibrant graduate program with an enrolment of ~110-120 graduate students each year.
