The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is accepting applications for a faculty position with a research emphasis in biomechanics. Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Demonstrate potential in scholarship, teaching and research in one of the indicated areas. Strong aptitudes for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and an outstanding ability to conduct collaborative externally-funded research. For more senior applicants, an outstanding reputation in the field of specialty is a primary requirement. Candidates for a tenured position will possess academic credentials to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.
Principal duties:
Develop, adapt, and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechanical Engineering; supervise graduate student research; develop and direct funded research; participate in faculty governance and public service.
Research areas of interest include:
- Advanced manufacturing especially in the areas of sustainable and additive manufacturing
- Biomechanics, biofabrication, and biomechatronics
- Advanced materials processing, nanomaterials processing, and hybrid/composite/heterogeneous materials processing
- Cyber-physical systems, combining physical components with information and advanced computing, human-system interaction, and modeling for virtual prototyping in the engineering design process.
