  • Post-doctoral position(s) in vascular biomechanics

Postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the Vascular Tissue Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study the role of inflammation in arterial stiffening and the impact of pulmonary arterial stiffening on right ventricular failure. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience and expertise relevant to arterial biomechanics, inflammation, tissue engineering, hemodynamics and/or ventricular function. S/he must have an MD or PhD (or expect to be awarded one shortly) in a relevant discipline (Biomedical Engineering, Physiology or Cardiovascular Medicine or equivalent) and will have a strong interest in a research career.

The role also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Post-doctoral fellows will join a highly collaborative and innovative research group whose mission is to improve cardiovascular health through the integration of mechanical engineering, vascular biology and imaging tools, to advance knowledge in these fields, and to educate the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular engineering and science. As an added benefit, fellows will have the opportunity to work and live in Madison, Wisconsin, frequently rated one of the best small cities in the US in terms of quality of life.

Qualified applicants should submit 1) a current CV/resume; 2) a letter of interest, describing research accomplishments and future career plans; and 3) names and contact information of three references via email to Chesler@engr.wisc.edu.

Salary level will be commensurate with previous experience and within the constraints of the position. Note, one funding source for this position may be possible through the UW Cardiovascular Research Center's Training Program in Translational Cardiovascular Science. For funding through this mechanism, the candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States. Please see the Training Program website for further information on eligibility and application procedures.
