    For our Medical Engineering Division in Lauf/Germany, we are searching for an:
    R & D Engineer Spine


    with the following responsibilities:
    • Execution of R&D projects which capture market needs while working in close cooperation with clinical consultants. The projects would cover the phases from initial ideas and concepts to the final serial-production.
      This includes especially the:
      • Development and construction of ceramic implants in coordination with product management and production
      • Conceptual design of surgical instruments in coordination with external providers
      • Set-up of all technical and regulatory documents in coordination with quality management

    • Execution of market analyses and literature research
    • Operative control of advisory board meetings with clinical consultants
    • Coordination of external providers
    • Project management: coordination and active control of all activities, in accordance with European and FDA regulations which are executed by internal and external resources. This includes especially the:
      • R&D process
      • Production
      • Validations

    • Assistance of surgeries including staff training during clinical evaluation in coordination with sales and product management


    Your skills:
    • Degree in biomechanical engineering or comparable
    • Multi-year work experience in the field of development and construction of spinal implants and instruments
    • Structured work in the highly regulated field of medical device industry
    • Systematic compilation of creative solutions
    • Construction of mechanical components, ideally orthopedic implants and instruments for spinal applications
    • Knowledge in mechanical production, ideally of ceramic components
    • Medical device regulations (Medical Device Directive, ISO 13485, FDA)
    • Advanced capability in spatial imagination
    • Experience in 3d-CAD, ideally Nx
    • Project management (Following Design Control according ISO 13485 and FDA)
    • Knowledge in anatomy, biomechanics and surgical technique regarding spine
    • Comfortable within the OR
    • Good German and English skills in writing and conversation
