Post-doctoral position in Motor Control and Biomechanics
Description: The Clinical Gait and Movement Analysis Laboratory in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is looking for a talented and highly motivated individual to join a NIH-funded project focused on fall prevention among older adults. The project goal is to investigate the mechanisms underlying slip-related falls among older adults via both gait experiment and computer simulation, and to develop effective and efficient clinical intervention or training paradigm to improve a person’s own neuromuscular defense mechanisms against fall-related injuries. This post-doctoral research associate position will work with an interdisciplinary team under the direct supervision of Dr. Yi-Chung (Clive) Pai.
Dates: The position is open until filled. The initial appointment is for one year with a possibility of a second year. Review of applications will begin immediately.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field such as Neuroscience
- Excellent written and oral English language communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Prior experience using motion capture system (Motion Analysis System), force plates (AMTI), EMG and/or computer programming (Matlab, LabView, C++) is highly desirable
- Clinical training, such as physical therapy is a huge plus
- The ability to work independently, problem solving, and attention to detail are essential
If interested, please e-mail a letter of interest, CV, and names of three references to:
