The Department of Physical Therapy invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant
or Associate Professor level. The successful candidates will bring an investigator-initiated research program
that includes sustained external funding or demonstrated high potential to receive and sustain external funding.
Candidates must also demonstrate dedication to teaching and student mentorship. Expertise and a research
portfolio in the areas of motor development, pediatric intervention, and disease prevention and wellness are
highly desired. The level of academic appointment will depend upon the overall experience and funding
history of the candidate. Research space and a generous start-up package are available for the successful
candidate. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
Join an outstanding faculty in one of the country’s premier urban research universities known for its
commitment to diversity. With the leadership of a new dean who has been recognized for ranking above the
95th percentile of faculty with funding from NIH, our college is well positioned to become a leader in
interprofessional education in the health and social service arenas. Our college receives more than $15 million
in federal funding each year, and the Physical Therapy department contributes to more than 20% of that
funding. As a faculty member, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with internationally recognized
clinical and basic science researchers.
The department has an accredited entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy program, a transitional DPT on-line
program, an academic PhD program and an orthopedic residency. Collaborative opportunities exist with
numerous research centers at Temple University including the Center for Obesity Research, the Center for
Neuromotor Ability, Eleanor Saffran Center for Cognitive Neuroscience, and the Virtual Environment and
Postural Orientation Laboratory. PT faculty collaborate with faculty in many disciplines (e.g., engineering,
computer science, psychology, radiology, otolaryngology) and with local institutions including Children’s
Hospital of Philadelphia, Shriners Hospital for Children, and Moss Rehab.
A PhD or equivalent degree in physical therapy or related fields such as rehabilitation science, neuroscience,
public health, or engineering is required. Interested individuals should have completed a post-doctoral position
or have relevant teaching or research experience.
All nominations and those interested in applying should submit a statement of interest, curriculum vitae,
recent teaching evaluations, and the names of three references to chpsw-search@temple.edu.
Temple University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution. People of color, women, veterans,
