The Bone and Joint Center at Henry Ford Health System (Detroit, MI) is seeking an assistant/associate/senior scientist in orthopaedic research. Successful applicants will have earned a PhD in biomedical engineering, cell biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, or a related field. Successful applicants will join a multidisciplinary team of investigators with complementary research programs examining various aspects of the musculoskeletal system, and will be expected to develop an externally funded research program and establish interdisciplinary research partnerships.
The Bone and Joint Center has expertise and well-equipped facilities for research in motion analysis, biomechanics, musculoskeletal modeling, computational mechanics, 3D imaging, animal models, cell biology, molecular genetics, histology, biochemistry and molecular biology. Scientists in the Bone and Joint Center have a strong history of collaboration with the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Radiology, Biostatistics & Research Epidemiology, Neurosurgery, Endocrinology, and Rheumatology at Henry Ford Health System. Opportunities for additional collaborations are anticipated as a result of the Bone and Joint Center being selected to occupy approximately 15,000 sq ft in Wayne State University’s new $93 million, state-of-the-art multidisciplinary research building. Successful applicants will also have the opportunity for faculty appointments in the College of Engineering or School of Medicine at Wayne State University.
This position has strong institutional support and will include a generous startup package and salary that is commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated research potential, a strong record of productivity, and a desire for multidisciplinary collaborations.
