  • PhD Student Position in Orthopedic Biomechanics at the University of British Columbia

One funded position is available to undertake PhD training commencing on September 1, 2015 in the Motion Analysis and Biofeedback Laboratory (www.ubc-mablab.ca) at the University of British Columbia. Graduate training will occur within the Graduate Programs in Rehabilitation Sciences (http://rehab.med.ubc.ca).

The successful applicant will work with a team of research and clinical staff on projects related to the biomechanics of normal and pathological knee joint function during functional movements. Using a combination of motion analysis, force platform technology, electromyography, and muscle strength testing, the research will be wide enough in scope to answer complex questions related to human biomechanics and tailored to the specific research interests of the student. Ultimately, this research will be used to answer biomechanical questions related to the development and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders such as knee osteoarthritis.

We are looking for individuals with a strong background in human biomechanics and motion analysis, as well as training in biomedical engineering, kinesiology, or rehabilitation. Experience with computer programming including Visual3D and Visual Basic would be an asset. The successful applicant will receive a minimum CAD $21,000 per annum stipend, renewable for 4 years. Domestic and international applicants are welcome.

To register your interest please forward your CV, copies of your academic transcripts (screen grab of statement of grades is OK), the names of 2 academic references and a cover letter that specifies your experiences and research interests by November 1, 2014 to:
