    POSITION
    A nine-month, tenure-track, open rank faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in motor control (#937208).
    EFFECTIVE DATE
    August 21st, 2015 or as negotiated
    RESPONSIBILITIES
    The successful candidate will develop or maintain a strong publication record in motor control, motor learning, motor behavior, neuroscience, or related area. A successful candidate is expected to have or develop an externally funded research program. Teaching responsibilities could include undergraduate classes in motor learning and motor development, as well as graduate instruction related to the candidate’s expertise. Additional responsibilities include mentoring graduate students and performing professional service to the university, community, and profession.
    REQUIREMENTS
    A doctoral degree in exercise science, kinesiology, neuroscience, or a related field is required. Post-doctoral training is preferred.
    DEPARTMENT
    The Department is comprised of 38 full and part-time faculty, and is the largest of three academic departments in the college of Health and Human Performance. The Department offers an interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science. The National Academy of Kinesiology’s 2010 Review and Evaluation of Doctoral Programs ranked this program in their top 10. The department offers two master’s degrees: an MS in Exercise and Sport Science with concentrations in, Adapted Physical Education, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Physical Activity Promotion, Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Sport Management, as well as a MAEd with concentrations in Adapted Physical Education and Physical Education Pedagogy. Approximately 600 majors study in four undergraduate degree programs: BS degrees in Exercise Physiology, Health Fitness Specialist, Physical Education, and Sport Studies.
    UNIVERSITY
    East Carolina University, the third largest institution in the University of North Carolina System. A faculty of over 1,800 guides approximately 28,000 students enrolled in 102 Bachelors, 80 Masters, 19 Doctoral, and 2 medical professional degree tracks. East Carolina University is a Carnegie Doctoral Intensive university and consists of 10 colleges, and Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine. ECU is located in the coastal region of North Carolina in Greenville, a rapidly growing city of approximately 85,000 persons. Greenville is approximately 90 miles east of the Research Triangle Park and 80 miles west of the Outer Banks and coastal resorts. Greenville has a relatively mild climate (average summer temperature - 84° F; average winter temperature - 44° F) and will experience all 4 seasons. Greenville has a cost of living approximately 10% lower than the US average.
