The Sport and Exercise Science Department at Lewis University, a Catholic and Lasallian University, located 25 miles southwest of Chicago, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses within the newly established Movement and Exercise program, as well as flexibility to teach courses which support either the Sport Management or Athletic Training Program. Additional responsibilities include advising and involvement in promoting department programs.
We are open to candidates with expertise in many areas; however, we have need for someone with experience in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or related area. Additionally, this position will require participation in university, professional and department service activities. Anticipated start date would be August 2015.
Applicants must possess a doctorate in Kinesiology or related field of study, with an emphasis in exercise physiology or related area. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have completed the doctorate before time of appointment. Other required qualifications include expertise and ability to teach in the area of exercise physiology, research methods, and in cognate areas; evidence of successful teaching experience at the college or university level; evidence of research ability and potential for scholarly productivity.
Desired qualifications include: Individuals who are credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (or similar credential), individuals who are Certified Athletic Trainers (must be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois), or individuals experienced with online teaching and/or advanced instructional technology.
