Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Delaware invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position. Research areas of priority include biomechanics, neural engineering and rehabilitation engineering. Preference is given to applicants eligible for the rank of associate professor, but all ranks will be considered.
Successful applicants will join us in transforming the new Biomedical Engineering program into a prominent biomedical engineering department. We seek creative and innovative individuals, who are eager to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment, have demonstrated excellence and leadership in research, and are high-quality teachers and mentors. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
The University of Delaware is committed to Biomedical Engineering research, with extensive core research facilities and high impact biomedical initiatives (www.bme.udel.edu). The successful applicant will join us in the new 103,000 sq ft Health Sciences Complex, a state-of-the-art facility that includes labs for human-based studies, an active outpatient clinic, and gross anatomy facilities. Current equipment includes motion analysis systems, electromyography units, split-belt treadmills, rehabilitation robotics labs, and ultrasound imaging labs. Current projects study neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders such as stroke, osteoarthritis and sports injuries. Other facilities on campus include a new MRI research facility that is under construction, a 194,000-square-foot Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory, and the Delaware Technology Park, where entrepreneurial and research incubators are co-located with academic research labs. Collaborative and interdisciplinary opportunities abound courtesy of the Delaware Rehabilitation Institute, the interdisciplinary Biomechanics & Movement Science Program, the Delaware Biotechnology Institute, and many research centers. The Delaware Health Sciences Alliance (DHSA), a partnership between University of Delaware, Christiana Care Health System, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and Thomas Jefferson University, provides infrastructure and opportunity for innovative clinical and translational collaborations.
