Assistant/Associate Professor in Biomechanics
The Department of Health & Kinesiology at Purdue University seeks applicants for a tenure track position in the area of Biomechanics to begin fall 2015. A doctoral degree in kinesiology or related field (e.g., exercise science, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering) and evidence of scholarship in the area of biomechanics (broadly defined) is required. Post-doctoral experience preferred. An independent line of research with potential for attracting extramural funding is expected at the assistant level, and evidence of extramural funding is expected at the associate level. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to and expand our nationally recognized program through publication, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising graduate students, and serving on departmental, college and/or university committees. There are ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations within the department, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and campus-wide emphasis areas (e.g., obesity, cancer, gerontology, children/adolescents, disease prevention, imaging, engineering). Professional collaborative opportunities and pilot funding also exist with the NIH-supported Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (www.indianactsi.org); the A.H. Ismail Center for Health, Exercise, and Nutrition (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/hk/ismail); Discovery Park (http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/), the Cooperative Extension Programs of Health and Human Sciences (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/extension/); and over 100 Centers at Purdue (http://www.purdue.edu/research/vpr/centersdev/list.php).
