The Department of Kinesiology at The University of Texas at El Paso invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Physical Education Teacher Education. The Department of Kinesiology has a history of excellence in interdisciplinary research, teaching, and community service. The Department offers a BS and a MS in Kinesiology and participates in the College of Health Sciences’ Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program. Currently, the PETE Program enrolls more than 120 students from among the more than 800 undergraduate majors. Faculty members have successfully secured external funding and are currently involved in research projects related to teaching and learning, fall prevention, gait and posture, fitness, aging, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. The Department has ongoing collaborations with local school districts, hospitals, Texas Tech University Health Science Center and other universities, and several UTEP units including Physical Therapy, Biology, and Engineering.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate in Kinesiology or closely related field with specialization in physical education pedagogy (ABD considered);
- Eligible for Texas teacher certification;
- A record of or potential for academic scholarship as demonstrated by research publications and the ability to secure external research funding;
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence;
- History of or potential for active participation and/or leadership roles in campus, community and professional organizations;
- Public school teaching experience is highly preferred;
- Must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
