  • Two faculty positions at the University of Mississippi

    The University of Mississippi’s Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation Management in the School of Applied Sciences invites nominations and applications for two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions within the department. The successful candidates are expected to have evidence of strong potential in research, pursuing external funding, and teaching and conducting research within the graduate and undergraduate cognate areas of specialty.

    Responsibilities of the position include: teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in area of expertise, publishing research in area of specialization, pursuing external funding, developing resources to provide on-going support for research activities, advising undergraduate and graduate majors, and serving on departmental and university committees.

    The Department of Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation Management offers BS programs in Exercise Science and Recreation Administration, an MS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, a MA in Park and Recreation Management, and a Ph.D. in Health & Kinesiology with two areas of emphasis: (1) Exercise Science and (2) Health Behavior and Promotion. The Department houses laboratories in Applied Physiology, Biochemistry, Applied Biomechanics, and Body Composition.

    Qualified applicants should possess (1) a Ph.D. in Kinesiology or Exercise Science with expertise in Motor Behavior/Control/Learning/Development or related field as of contract start date (August, 2015), (2) an established record of scholarship, (3) teaching potential/ability in higher education, and (4) potential to obtain external funding for scholarly activities. ABD candidates will be considered, however the Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.

ABD candidates will be considered, however the Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.
