The College wishes to recruit a Research Fellow to support the work of Professor Peter Winlove and Dr Judith Meakin. This post is available immediately for 36 months. The project will investigate the mechanisms of needle injury in the intervertebral disc, requiring expertise in tissue biomechanics and/or microscopy
The post will include construction of a rig to mount motion segments on the stage of a multiphoton microscope and conduct microscopic investigations of tissue structure during the insertion of a hypodermic needle. The post holder will also be involved in post processing of images and in data presentation. Some experience in tissue biomechanics or in microscopy would be desirable, but training will be provided as necessary. The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
