    The Imaging Research Engineer/Scientist provides technical, administrative, and operational support to Imaging research projects. The Imaging Research Engineer/Scientist will support many aspects of Imaging research activities through various duties including: research project planning and design, assisting with funding applications, conception and/or design of novel imaging related projects and techniques, data acquisition, data analysis, manuscript drafting and submission, and preparation of abstracts/posters/presentations. Development, management and completion of imaging research projects which aim to improve the treatment of orthopaedic disorders.

    This is a permanent, full-time, exempt position with benefits.

    1. Create and adhere to new and existing scientific research projects plans including involvement of staff (institute, clinical, and external staff), development of timeline, budget allocation, data collection and analysis, and publication. Present new project ideas and plans to Institute staff, board members, scientific advisory committees, clinical staff, and third party companies for research feedback and to generate funding sources.
    2. Develop and communicate clearly research protocols with surgeons and clinical staff and troubleshoot any issues in order not to interrupt clinical workflow
    3. Write scientific research project proposals, IRB applications, project manuscripts and annual reports, and grant proposals for research studies.
    4. Interact with research subjects including patients and volunteers for, explaining research and informed consent, scheduling and observing clinical exams and MRIs
    5. Simultaneously manage multiple research projects and multicenter collaborations while adhering to internal and external deliverables
    6. Develop and test strategies for optimization of clinical imaging techniques to improve the diagnostic capabilities of MRI as well as to improve longitudinal tracking of tissue/joint health.
    7. Process and analyze large amounts of data using MatLab and Statistical Software packages. Working knowledge of statistical methodology is a plus.
    8. Summarize data in concise, graphical form for presentation internally, externally to collaborators, and for manuscripts
    9. Create working software prototypes including graphical user interfaces to communicate a clinical need to external collaborators
    10. Publish in top tier peer reviewed journals and present research at relevant conferences and research meetings

    4. Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary by supervisor.

    1. Understanding of the composition of digital medical imaging including MRI and radiographic images
    2. Experience with multitasking and adhering to deadlines
    3. Exposure to biomechanics and sports medicine.
    4. Experience with Matlab programming and analyzing 3D matrices (preferably DICOM images)
    5. Experience working with clinical professionals is a plus
    6. Experience in scientific writing
    7. Experience in laboratory testing

    Masters of Science in Engineering, Biomechanics, Image processing, or related field plus one year of related work/research experience OR Bachelor of Science in above fields with at least three years of relevant work experience
