The Cardiac Biomechanics and Computational Biomechanics Labs, part of the Center for Orthopaedic Biomechanics at the University of Denver, are seeking a highly motivated individual to perform post-doctoral research in computational and experimental biomaterials and tissue mechanics. The two-year position offers a competitive salary, health insurance, and benefits. Review of applicants will continue until the positions are filled, with potential start dates as early as February 1, 2015.
Desired qualifications for the position include:
* PhD degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering
* Demonstrated skills in the collection of in vitro laboratory measurements
* Demonstrated skills in the development of finite element models of cardiac or musculoskeletal tissue
* Prior research-based journal publications
* Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of constitutive behavior of tissue and current biomaterials, including polyethylene, PEEK, and nitinol
* Knowledge of finite element analysis and commercial FE codes
* Proficiency with programming languages
* Knowledge of cardiac, knee, spine, or hip biomechanics
* Experience collaborating with clinicians in clinical or laboratory settings
